Makeover

A lot of the homes for sale in DC are pretty old. They keep their original structure, the original piping, the original heating system etc. I wanted to look into some home remodeling in Washington DC but I wanted to see how much it would cost to really update all of the systems that needed it. I had a contractor come into my home and assess what exactly needed to be done for a remodel, addition and new HVAC system. They walked me through the pricing structure and it was the first time that I felt comfortable enough to put down some money and be sure how far my dollar is taking me. I’m really thankful that I didn’t just turn my remodel into a Do It Yourself project and called in the professionals.

Moving Alone? Don’t Do it.

I was moving from upper NW DC to Bethesda and had been planning on moving by myself. Once I started packing up… I realized how much I really had in my home. My truck, though it had a flat bed, was not going to be able to handle that many trips back and forth and I needed to find a moving company Bethesda MD, fast. My move was in a week and a half and I was sure that everywhere would be booked, but I got lucky. Not only did they alleviate all of my moving jitters, I was able to have the movers place all of the boxes in the rooms they’re supposed to be in. I didn’t have to worry about unpacking anything on my own. I’ll never move on my own again!

Big Home, Big Move

It’s official, my husband and I just bought our very first home! We love it – it might not have the white picket and shutters, but it’s perfect for our first home. The only thing is we need help moving. The last few moves we made involved a pickup truck and a bunch of our friends – it also took 3 days. This time we want to use professional movers. I Googled movers Weymouth, MA and found a great company. They provided us with an estimate and gave us a run-down on how move day will go. I feel confident that we chose the best moving company in the area.

New Pup... New Fence

Out here in Gallatin TN, the neighborhood I live in is full of dogs and children. It’s a typical suburban neighborhood and we absolutely love it. After a few years of dog-sitting and always having our neighborhood dogs come to visit, we finally decided to get one for our family. Before doing that, we knew we would need to make some improvements in our home. The first thing we did was look for reliable fencesin Gallatin TN. Surprisingly; our neighbors had one company in common, so we decided to give them a call. We went with a picket fence, sort of to match our neighbors and we liked the look of it. It didn't take long to install, and we got a good deal because of the neighbors!  After our fence was complete, we started to look for a new pup. We adopted a little German shepherd named Tye and couldn't be happier! The fence has helped so much and we are able to play outside with Tye without having to worry about it.

Problems that Lead to Calls for Garage Door Repair - Again

  • Accidents - The placement of a garage door puts it in a prime position to be hit by cars. Michigan's snow and ice make it even more likely that a car will eventually slide into a door. When a collision is forceful enough, it'll dent the door, knock it off of its track, bend the track, or worse. Garage door repair experts will know how to restore a door to its track and fix dents that interfere with its operation.
  • Lock problems - Garage door locks can be damaged by break-in attempts, corrosion, icing, and more. Call us to get your garage door locks fixed and restore security or access to your garage.

These are just a few of the reasons you may need professional garage door repair in Upper Township NJ. In many cases, repairs are far less expensive than buying a new door. If the damage is severe enough to require door replacement, don't despair - we have plenty of affordable new doors available to choose from.

What to Look for In a Good Heating Contractor

Many consumers have less than satisfactory stories about less than satisfactory contractors. Heating and cooling is the single most expensive thing about a home. It pays to locate a contractor who at the very least is certified. It pays even more to locate one who is highly educated in his brand of HVAC equipment. The best, however, will conduct a survey of your home, ductwork, insulation, energy consumption and more. It’s going to cost you to pay for the best, but better that than paying for the mess up from an under-qualified technician down the road. Ask these questions of each local Painesville OH heating contractor you consider for the job.

Please Show Me Your Certifications

Don’t be afraid to ask. Would you patronize a doctor with no diploma on the wall? Check over his license and insurance as well as his certifications. A good contractor at the very least is NATE certified. HVAC Excellence, Air Conditioning Contractors of America, EPA 608 certifications should be made available upon demand. The best contractor constantly undergoes education in his field and brand, much like a doctor or a lawyer.

Wait for It...

If a contractor gives you a quote over the phone without an inspection of the system, hang up. In fact, keep calling until you find a contractor that won’t give you a quote until he sees your home and system. No contractor worth his license will sell you a heating and cooling system without seeing how big the house is or what your power bills have looked like in the past, some of which are part of an energy and comfort audit. Diagnostic tests will be part of the inspection. After all, the goal here is to save you money.

Furnace Installation: Signs You May Need a New Furnace

Winter weather is in full force, which means that it is important that you determine whether or not your furnace can handle the coming winter months. Just like any appliance, your furnace has a lifespan; thusly, it is important for you to know the signs that will indicate that your furnace is in need of replacement. Here are a few indicators you can look for to determine whether you should consider new furnace installation for your home.

Furnace Age

The average life expectancy of a furnace is 16-20 years. While a furnace can function longer than this, once a furnace reaches this age it will not work as efficiently as it once did, and it will be prone to malfunctioning. Thusly, if your furnace is in this age range, you may want to begin looking at options for having it replaced before it quits working due to its old age.
