Let's Talk About Windows

We don't spend much time on this blog about windows, but we feel they're an important topic. Replacing windows is something that almost all homeowners go through. And if you have never gone through it before, it can be hard to know what you're looking at. Here are two things to keep in mind:

Spacers
A spacer holds window panes together and can be made from a variety of materials. While spacers have traditionally been made from aluminum, it was found that aluminum is a good conductor, which means it doesn't do a good job of keeping your home a comfortable temperature. Newer spacers are not made of metal and work a lot better.

Window Panes
Panes today are typically either double pane or triple pane. In both instances, gas is filled between the panes, and this helps reduce the heat that travels through the windows. As you may have guessed, triple pane have twice as much gas and are even more efficient.
