Cleaning Gutters

As we start to prepare for fall weather, we want to use this time to think about fall home care. As leaves start to fall, there are numerous things we need to do to take care of our homes and yards. In this case, we want to talk about cleaning your gutters. Throughout summer and fall, leaves and other debris fall into your gutters and can lead to clogs.

When cleaning your gutters, first clean out the downspout. Make sure the area at the bottom is free of debris. If you think the downspout is clogged, climb a lander and bang on the spout as you work your way up. Often times banging the spout will free of debris and it'll fall to the bottom.

Once the downspout is clear, work your way to the top of the gutters and scoop out any leaves or debris in the way. Make sure you always have someone support the ladder at the bottom.

Once your gutters are free of most debris, run your hose to clear out any smaller debris and try to break up any remaining clogs.

If you aren't comfortable climbing up on a ladder or have questions about your gutters, contact an expert in gutter repair or gutter installation in Kenosha WI.
