- If a contractor seems like they're pressuring you into a decision quickly, this is a red flag. They should be patient with you; the saying goes "the customer is always right"
- Require that they provide you with a written estimate of the costs. If they don't do this, you're better off working with another company
- Always ask lots of questions, about how long they usually take, how often they stick within their budget, etc...
- Try to get estimates from different contractors - shop around!
