Dripping Ceiling

It's a rainy day here, so I wanted to take this time to talk about leaking ceilings and what they possibly mean for your building and roof. A leaking ceiling doesn't always mean there is an issue with your roof. Take these thoughts into consideration when dealing with a leaking roof.

- Examine the water that is dripping from the ceiling. If the water appears to be dirty or leaves a yellow stain in your ceiling it's likely water leaking through the roof. If the water is clean, it is likely coming from a problem with your plumbing.

- Does the ceiling only leak when it rains? This is an important factor to help determine the cause of the leak. If the ceiling only leaks when it rains outside, the issue is likely with your roof or gutters. If the leaking doesn't correlate with the weather outside, it could be plumbing or another issue.

The first step in fixing a leaking roof is always identifying the source of the water. Fixing a ceiling will only be a short term fix if the source of water is still active. If you have any questions, contact an expert in roofing maintenance in Leesburg VA.
