Building Out

When my husband and I bought a new home in Mclean VA we knew that we would have to build out and add a home addition. Our home itself isn’t that large but our land is big enough for northern Virginia. I found someone who could help us complete some home additions in Mclean VA. Black Mold

When I put in a bid on a new home, I knew I needed to search for someone to perform a routine home inspection in Fremont NE . Let me tell you, I was lucky I did. When they walked through the house, not only did they find termite damage, they found black mold! We had recently purchased a home that we thought we could re-paint within a week of purchase. My husband and I had tried to paint our home but realized that while he is 6 ft tall, I am 5’2’’ and there is no way that we can both reach the same parts of the house. Dream Home... No Fence

Out here in Brea, California, sometimes buying a new home with everything built into it that you want can be extremely difficult. Bursting Pipes

It’s been cold outside, and unfortunately we didn’t take the proper precautions inside – our pipes froze and burst. This isn’t the way we wanted to start our Monday morning. Fire in the Chimney

Last week a family a few blocks over had an unfortunate incident in their home, they had a chimney fire. Luckily, everyone got out of the home safely, but the damage to their home was awful.  We found out the fire was due to a dirty chimney, if only they had their chimney cleaned this could have been prevented. We looked up chimney sweeps in Pasadena, CA and found a company that was able to come out that week. Our chimney is now clean and we can relax knowing our family is safe.

Winter Time... Plumbing Issue Time

I live in an old house, and every winter our plumbing starts to get finicky. The bathtub and sink faucets start to leak! It stars with a couple of drops, and before you know it, it’s a full stream of water coming out. Needless to say, it’s already gotten cold here in Plainfield IN and thus our plumbing has already started to have an issue. The plumber in Plainfield IN came out to take a look at everything (like they do every year), and the leaking stopped. Here’s hoping it lasts the rest of the season!

Annoying Falls

Living in Richmond VA, I get satisfaction of experiencing all four seasons. Being a kid back in the day, autumn was hands down the best. The leaves we jumped into were the most fun of any season. However, no one tells when you get older and own a home, the leaves can get rather annoying and while your kids are jumping in leaves, you’re cleaning out the gutters. After living in our home for many years and getting out my trusty ladder to clean out the leaves, we realized it was time to get some gutter guards in Richmond VA. Originally, when I lived in a one-floor home, it wasn't a pain to get up there and clean the gutters. When I moved into this bigger two-story home to start a family, things changed. Asthma Attack

My daughter has terrible asthma and plays soccer. Whenever we got home from a game or from practice, she would still have to use her inhaler. I didn’t understand why until we realized that it could be due to the vents in our home. When my husband and I spoke to an HVAC company they let us know that more energy efficient options could help our daughter through air filtration options. Parents Home Also Getting Older...

My parents’ home in Montgomery AL has recently started showing its age, starting with the plumbing. The pipes started leaking and the faucets started dripping. I’ve tried to get them to call a plumber in Montgomery AL to come out and take a look at everything, but they insist that their plumbing is fine and just needs to be tweaked in a few places. I’ll be down there visiting in a couple of weeks – we’ll see how it is!

Break In

I just opened up a new convenient store in Chicago after moving here from Seattle. I never needed video surveillance at my old store in Washington because I lived above it and knew that the locks were the same ones I used on my home! Two days after the installation, these children broke into my store and vandalized the entire place! Holiday Season!

It’s holiday season! Family, food and holiday parties are what it’s all about. And how could I forget, it gets a bit chillier even out here in Los Angeles, California. I don’t know about you, but my house is the house to get together with family and friends. Our family has a lot of kids in it, so during these holidays they love to see our fireplace going, even if they’re not cold! Our fireplace is a big hit so we have to make sure it’s all set to go before the holidays start. Before we start to prep for these parties, the first thing we do is look for the best chimney service in Los Angeles. My husband and I have been living in our house for about 20 years.  A few months ago we both agreed it was time for a new fence! Recently, I had a pressure cleaning company come take a look at my house. It was dingy, moldy, and looked like I was living in a haunted house. Thinking About Fences

Know one thing that’s never been on my mind until recently? Fences. Yup. Fences. I was recently driving through a neighborhood in Warsaw IN and each home had their own type of fence. Now at first I thought it was pretty anti-social, but then I realized that these fences really added something to the homes. They added character! When I arrived home I started thinking about getting a fence for our front yard – and now I wish I had one! I’m going to start researching fences in Warsaw IN more to see if I can find the right solution for our home in Warsaw.

Reminiscing on the Past

I recently ran into my best friend from 11th grade. I haven't seen her in over 15 years, actually since high school, but meeting up again was as if we never skipped a beat. We reminisced over all the boys we were crushing on, and all of the terrible decisions we made.  As a mother of 2 daughters under 5 I was both excited and terrified for the experience of them in High School. Our pool patio was so filthy, but I just thought that we needed to have the entire thing replaced. Luckily, I was able to find a pressure cleaning professional in my area to come and prove me wrong. With the tiniest amount of harsh chemicals, he was able to pressure clean our pool patio to like-new condition. It looks great! Meeting of the Minds

New Home - New Fence

I Don’t Live in a Walk Up

Almost every apartment building in Washington DC has an elevator and when it breaks down, it feels like your life is ending. When I lived by American University, my apartment building refused to call an elevator repair service in Washington DC. For weeks I had been walking up and down the stairs to leave my apartment while I lived on the seventh floor… It is the most annoying thing any apartment building can do. Fix your elevators! I pay for the luxury of not having a walk up.

Clean Lines

Home Renovation

I had been planning a home renovation for a few years now. I saved up, met with designers and really tried to make my money last. I had decided that I wanted a roof that had Spanish tile. Southern Summers

Living in Mechanicsville VA, we have the pleasure and privilege of experiencing all four seasons. When I was younger, I loved autumn. Moving Back In With The Parents...

I moved back in with my parents a few years after college in hopes of saving up to purchase a place of my own.  Well that day has finally come! I’ve hired a great team of Montgomery County MD moving experts and am ecstatic to finally have a place of my own! I’ve purchased what my Dad likes to call, “a great starter house”, complete with 3 bedrooms and 2 and a half baths! I have my own master suite which comes with a Jacuzzi style tub and stand up shower! I’m so excited to have a place where I can start the next leg of my adventures. 

Moving Disaster

I just heard from a job I wanted in Chicago and I needed to be out there within two-weeks to start my new job. Unfortunately that left me with a ton of things to pack and little time. I called a  moving company in Waymouth MA to help me pack the things I didn’t know how. I had no idea that I was even packing my valuables incorrectly and I know that without them, my things wouldn’t have made it to the Windy City unscathed!

After I had video surveillance services installed in Bolingbrook IL I was able to see what happened at my office after hours. For the first few weeks, the employees didn’t realize that they were going to be on their own kind of candid camera, but after catching them doing things that even a soap-opera wouldn’t air, things started to settle down. I even thought about shutting the cameras down once I knew that they weren’t stealing or doing anything ridiculously out of the ordinary. However, for some reason I kept it going. Thankfully I did so! One week later, I saw that someone was trying to break into my office and steal out of my office!

Train Her PLEASE

Moving within Fairfax County ended up being a lot easier than I thought it would be. Moving in Fairfax VA was the smoothest move I've ever had. We hired movers and they even helped us out with additional packing which was out of the ordinary. Everything went smoother than we would have thought. Originally we thought that moving was going to be a pain because we have so many fragile items. However, as soon as we marked our breakables and told the movers about it they told us not to worry that they know how to take care of the packages and they will make sure that nothing happens to them. The peace of mind was enough!

Pool Paradise

Why Am I Always Taking the Stairs…

Paint It Black

Walking along a road I saw three men completing a wood fence installation in Winston Salem NC. Older Home From Late 1800s

I just moved into an older home, it was built in the late 1800s, and I want to make sure the electricity is properly wired and safe for my family to use. I asked our new neighbors about electricians in Chevy Chase,MD and received a lot of great feedback. It looks like we’re in good hands and will have no problem finding a great electrician to evaluate the wiring in our home and make sure it’s completely up to date!

Apartment Lease Is Up!

Well, my apartment lease is up in a few months and I want to move to a different area of the city. The problem is the idea of moving is stressful! Where do I get boxes? How do I move antique furniture? They think he’s about 4 years old, and the shelter mentioned he spent a lot of time on the streets before he was rescued and that he might find comfort in a mix of the outdoors and indoors while he’s getting use to our family.  We have a great piece of land and immediately I thought of hiring Fence Contractors in Lakewood CA to fence our property in for him. It was a pretty painless process and the end result was actually really great. We were able to get the kids a play set, and Huxley warmed up to us a lot sooner than anyone expected!

Gravel Driveway No More

Driveway sealing in Lansdale PA is extremely popular. However, I never really saw the point until this year. I had a gravel driveway for years and I never really thought that I would invest in tarring my driveway because it would lead to added expenses of having it re-sealed every few years. However, once my husband got a new car, we realized that the gravel we were driving could contribute to a whole host of problems for the car. Both my tired and my alignment have had to be adjusted multiple times because of problems that gravel had caused!
